SUNDAY FUNDAY!!!! 

Today my brother & I went Mountain Biking!!! Oh my goodness.  This was a new experience for me!! So happy I've been going to the gym, because it sure helped, but there was some serious hills I had to push my bike up!! Yes, push!!! Up the steep hills I would peddle, peddle, peddle, then my legs would give out and up I would walk!!  Still fun. I kept up pretty good for the most part....that is unless he was trying to knock me down or run me off the hillside! That's a brother for you. Some things never change! He told me I wasn't going fast enough if I didn't fall.  I think I must disagree with that philosophy. No thanks!!  

It was a gorgeous day at Hensley Lake.  I came home wiped out, but that's a good thing and it was a good day!!

Ken Shirley. 1931-2013

Well, it's been a very tough month. I like to promote fun on my blog, but I've been out of it for a month now.  My 81 year old dad passed away on March 27th, after being in the hospital for two weeks from a motorcycle accident.  Yes, my dad still rode a Goldwing motorcycle!  He had converted it to a "trike" just a few months back.  He absolutely loved Death Valley.  He usually went about once a month.   Just as I do, he also loved a great full moon night.  So the happy part of the story is coming now.....He passed away in Death Valley on his motorcycle and on a full moon night! 

As my brother stated so eloquently, "If anyone of us had a conversation with him 1, 2 or even 10 years ago and said that when you die, you will be very healthy, on your motorcycle, leaving Scotty's Castle.  You will crash and end up in the hospital for 2 weeks with your 4 kids at your side holding your hand, laughing, crying, loving and hugging each other.  You even get to take your last breath on a full Death Valley moon, would you do it? He would say no "iffies" about it....sign me up!"

So it's with that thought that we kids said our goodbye's and told him we loved him.  He lived an amazing life. He climbed Half Dome 3 times - starting on his 70th birthday!  Went skydiving twice. Once for 50th and once for 80th birthdays.  Rode 100 miles on his bicycle in Death Valley, 10,000 mile trip on his motorcycle one summer.  Solo motorcycle trip to Florida Keys in his 70's! Bungy jumped at 81.  So many years of being a race car & stunt car driver!  

There were several people at his memorial that I spoke to, that were going out the next week to try and do something exciting, like he had done.  I hope these pictures of our very cool dad, inspires you to do something fun this month!!  Life is to short not too!!!

It's our 8th ANNUAL Daylight Savings Party!!! Yes....Daylight Savings Party.  It started one year when we were so excited to be able to have daylight once we got home from work. We met for the evening for wine & cheese. No fella's.  The next year, the guys wanted in on the fun too.  So with that, comes dinner. Men need meat. Or at least that's what my man says when it comes to dinner time! So now it's cocktails, appetizers and dinner.  Every year gets a little bit better. Last night the weather was so nice, we were able to eat outside. That's California for you!!  I tried a new cocktail that wasn't so successful. Don't try the Carrot Martini recipe you find on Pinterest!! The first sip is yummy....then it's all down hill after that!  We finished one then went on to our favorite cocktail....WINE!!   It was shear delight after that!!
So, what non-traditional traditions do you have??? Let me know, we might just try yours!

Fun times with my Man!

So me & the hubby really enjoy hanging out together. (Especially at happy hour!)  Last night we fixed the best dinner together. Nothing is more romantic than putting on some good tunes, glass of wine and creating a fabulous dinner. Doesn't even need to be fancy. Just tasty good! We made an easy pasta dinner that was fabulous & fun! ...hey....look what else I found in the frig to add to it....hey...do you have anything on under that apron???

Kayaking!!! Yippeee!!!!

Check out what I got!!  Not quite, but almost warm enough to go kayaking!!  I have a great husband, who is always thinking of me. He fishes and wanted me to have something to do when he was fishing. (or get my chattering out of his boat! haha) Hank and I gave it a little test run in the "cement pond"!!  Even that was fun!!!  I'm looking forward to taking this out on the lake or our San Joaquin River. Great fun way to get some extra exercise, don't you think??

I love spring. The doves start cooing, the quails start nesting and chirping and all my dog wants to do is chase them all out of the yard! My daffodils are in full bloom too. Today I dug a bit in the dirt and took my dog, Hank, for a walk. What fun thing did you do to celebrate this beautiful day?

Hello All and Welcome to my first day of Blogging!! 

I don't even really know how to follow or find a blog, let alone create one!! But a friend told me yesterday that I really should start one, so why not!

My hope is to mainly have fun here. 

A few of the things I've been thinking about, is to share my dog Hank, with you. He's quite comical at times.

I am not a fitness guru, by any stretch of the imagination, but I do work hard to keep in shape. I love to eat, so I have to work out.  I might share some of my tips with you. But again....I'm no expert!

As far as food goes, I love it!  I hope to share some easy recipes.  At times, I wish I were a dietician.  But since I'm not, I try to use good common sense. Something I see too many moms in the grocery line, not using.  Seriously, what are they thinking?!?!
